Pool slope complete…

Whilst not on the original list of jobs for this trip, it would have been a wasted opportunity if we did not complete this job, with the pool basin being dry and other jobs all being completed successfully.

The photo below shows the slope the day before the pour, with a 50x50mm wooden batten being screwed to the pool slab to give a good clean edge to ‘drag’ the concrete against. The long length of wood (laying in shallow end) was used to screed / drag the concrete and the scaffolding plank was used to lie on to float the concrete to a nice smooth surface.

It was actually a lot easier than I had feared, albeit we had put too much from the pump onto the blocks and ended up shoveling out about 20-30 buckets of concrete out again to get a nice smooth slope.

You can see the 50mm wooden batten still at the bottom of the slope. You can also see two wooden boxes which were used to shutter the sail-post sleeves, which have also now been brought up to their finial height.

The wooden batten was removed the next morning and the final 250mm of slope was completed using ready-mix mortar and a float.
