Bottom drains installed

We bought a number of individual parts from various places, including the local DIY store (Bricomarche), to make up a pressure testing rig that we can use to test the connections on various plumbing parts. In the simplest of terms it is a hosepipe connector attached to a central heating pressure gauge, which in term is connected to a series of adaptors to eventually allow for 63 and 75mm PVC pipes, which will be the main diameters of pipes that we will use. The bottom drains can be pressure tested using winterising plugs.

There was a bit of a hiccup with the pressure test, whereby the 75mm pipe coming from the tee junction blew apart, in spectacular style, after pressuring. However, it we soon realised that we had forgotten to glue this section and only friction was holding that particular joint together.

Following a successful overnight pressure test, the bottom drains were installed, and set in rapid set concrete to ensure that they remain level when the self-placing concrete is poured. The blocks on top of the drains are to make sure that they do not move when the slab is poured.

The cut sheets have been re-connected with 8mm rebar bent to shape over the ridge of the 75mm pipes that come from the main drain tee junction.
