Walls poured

It was all completed in around two hours, but yet again not as straightforward as I would have hoped. We have had a bit of rain over the weekend, so the concrete delivery driver refused to take the truck around the back (across the grass) so that it was close to the pool.

After some discussion (finger pointing) on different options, the truck was parked as close as possible to the garage and the pump’s telescopic arm scratched out over the garage roof.

It was quite a struggle to get it to reach the far wall of the pool and caused quite a bit of overspill and sore shoulders, but we got the job done. Thanks in a large part to my kind neighbor again, who was on hand to help this morning.

As I have learned the hard way, the pump cannot get every last drop (more like 1/2 m3) out of the mixer. Therefore, the remaining quantity was put onto a tarpaulin and then wheelbarrowed around and put in the blocks that were not quite full.

Even then, we did not quite have enough to do the small wall that will separate the shallow end from the slope, but that can be done at a later date anyway. I think my calculations were correct, but did not account for the amount of spillage we had.

Any overspill that landed on the pool base was watered down with the hose pipe to make sure that it does not set. The resultant sludge can be cleaned out later on.
