Shallow end and slope forming

Before the fourth layer is added, I have inserted a series of pre-bent L-Shaped 8mm rebar angles into the walls to allow connection to the shallow-end slab that will be formed later on. Inserting these joints now should create a super strong structure, with all elements of the pool being connected through reinforcement.

A 75mm pipe has also been connected and ‘passed through the wall’ and will later on be connected to two further drains in the shallow end. There will be a total of four drains to be able to draw sufficient volume from the pool for the water features (waterfall and bubblers).

You can also see three L-Shaped rebar joints that have been inserted to connect the welded mesh for the slope (to be installed at a later stage). The three in the wall (with yellow caps on) show the angle of the slope and will be joined, with welded mesh, to the steel row on the right hand side of the photo. This row of steels will be bent over to form the correct angle of the slope (approx. 12 degrees) when I come to form the slope later on.

A photo showing the progress made by the end of the day. Although I am further ahead than what I wanted to be, I cannot help but think I could have done more – if it wasn’t raining half of the day!
