Feature wall disaster!

Well that did not go very well at all… Whilst we thought there was enough support in the formworks, they gave way in two places. Both failed at the bottom and we lost lots of concrete as a result. Thankfully disaster was obverted and we ended up using concrete to fill the technical room blocks instead.

The photo below shows one of the walls that gave way at the bottom. First of all we heard a creak and then an almighty crack as the bottom gave way; which we believe was about three screws being sheered by the force of the concrete!

The second wall that gave way. It looks better in the photo that it was at one point, as we have tidied up the spill quite a bit and actually managed to fill the wall to the finished level.

Thankfully both walls gave way away from the pool and given that this ground is to be raised up, the evidence of the spill and slightly wonky walls will never be seen!

At least the technical room walls have been finished to a height of 1.4m… Just goes to show the work at the weekend to build the technical room was worth the effort.
